Subway says it plans 10,000 new restaurants around the world, a staggering expansion abroad

Subway® continues to expand its global presence with impressive growth milestones, as the brand signed over 20 master franchise agreements in the past three years, resulting in more than 10,000 future restaurant commitments. Seven agreements signed in 2024 alone mark Subway's entry into new markets like Paraguay and Mongolia, while also expanding its footprint in countries such as France, Switzerland, Brazil, and Guatemala. These agreements will bring 2,000 new restaurants, contributing to over 40% of Subway’s new openings this year.

Subway's strategic focus on multi-unit operators and flexible formats has accelerated its global growth, with the brand on track to more than double its 2019 restaurant openings. This expansion includes partnerships with major retail brands like Walmart and Aramark, and the growth of Subway’s non-traditional locations in airports, travel stops, and campuses.
