Smithfield Foods, in partnership with United Supermarkets, has donated over 30,000 pounds of pork products to the South Plains Food Bank in Lubbock, Texas, to help combat food insecurity in the region. This donation, part of Smithfield's Helping Hungry Homes initiative, will provide more than 120,000 servings of protein-rich food, including bacon, ham, tenderloins, and meatballs, to families in need across West Texas.

"We are incredibly grateful for this generous pork donation," said Dina Jefferies, CEO of South Plains Food Bank. "Protein is one of the most needed but hardest-to-secure items for our neighbors, and this will make a significant impact."

The food bank, which serves 19 counties and has aided over 50,000 households this year, will distribute the food through various programs, including a mobile pantry and a senior food box program. This contribution comes as a critical boost as the holiday season approaches.
