America's Finest City celebrates grand opening of new 10-acre life sciences campus in California

On September 30, Breakthrough Properties, in partnership with San Diego Mayor Todd Gloria and UCSD Chancellor Dr. Pradeep Khosla, celebrated the grand opening of Torrey View, a newly developed, 10-acre life science campus in Del Mar Heights. Representatives from Pfizer and BD Biosciences also joined the event to mark the milestone.

Torrey View, a 520,000-square-foot state-of-the-art research facility, was pre-leased in its entirety to prominent companies. Pfizer’s oncology division leased 230,000 square feet across two buildings, while BD created a 220,000-square-foot innovation center for its Biosciences division. Additional tenants include Charles River Laboratories, Actio Biosciences, and Architect Therapeutics.

Acquired by Breakthrough Properties, a joint venture of Tishman Speyer and Bellco Capital, in October 2020, the campus has earned LEED Gold certification for sustainability. Mayor Gloria praised the campus, calling it a hub for "the brightest minds in medicine," and expressed excitement for the life-changing advancements that will emerge from this facility.
