NOAA's U.S. Winter Outlook for 2024-2025 predicts significant weather patterns influenced by a developing La Niña, which could impact California's winter season. According to the forecast, much of California faces equal chances of experiencing below-average, near-average, or above-average precipitation, offering little clarity on potential rainfall for the state. However, La Niña typically brings drier conditions to the southern U.S., including parts of California.

Drought conditions are expected to persist or worsen in parts of the Southwest, potentially affecting Southern California. Meanwhile, Northern California may see wetter conditions in line with the Pacific Northwest’s forecast for above-average precipitation. The uncertain weather patterns underscore the importance of preparedness, especially as California continues to face challenges with water resources and wildfire risks.
