Santa Ana winds have returned to Southern California, bringing strong gusts and elevated fire risks. According to the National Weather Service, winds between 45 and 55 mph, with isolated gusts reaching up to 60 mph, are sweeping across the Santa Monica and San Gabriel mountains. These winds are expected to persist through Saturday, mainly during the late night and early afternoon hours.

The offshore winds will also drive warmer temperatures, especially in valleys and coastal areas, with some regions nearing 80°F. Despite a brief lull in the winds during the evening, gusty conditions will return overnight. The winds, coupled with lower humidity, increase fire weather concerns through the weekend. Above-normal temperatures are forecast to continue into next week.

Fire safety precautions are encouraged as the region braces for more warm, dry conditions.
