The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a weather update regarding the impact of a cold front sweeping through the region today. Residents can expect gusty north winds and significantly cooler temperatures, along with scattered shower activity primarily in the eastern zones.

As a potent upper-level low shifts into central Arizona this evening, the likelihood of precipitation will decrease, although northern Mohave County may still experience light showers due to wrap-around effects. Wind gusts are anticipated to be particularly strong tonight, with the potential for speeds exceeding 40 MPH until around 10 PM, prompting a wind advisory until that time.

Looking ahead, winds are expected to diminish on Saturday, with maximum gust probabilities dropping significantly. High temperatures will rise by 5 to 10 degrees compared to today, though they will still remain 5 to 8 degrees below normal for this time of year. By Sunday, conditions will improve further, with lighter winds and temperatures returning to near seasonal averages as ridging builds over the region.
