Atmospheric River Set to Bring Heavy Rain and Winds to Western Washington This Weekend

The National Weather Service in Seattle has issued a warning for an incoming atmospheric river expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall and gusty winds to western Washington throughout the weekend. Starting today, the region will experience significant rainfall, particularly in the northern Olympic Peninsula and North Cascades, with totals potentially reaching 6 to 8 inches in localized areas.

Heavy rain is anticipated to cause sharp rises in local rivers and localized ponding on roadways, though no flooding is currently forecasted. Wind gusts are expected to reach 30-45 mph along the north coast and across the northern Salish Sea, while other areas may see gusts between 20-30 mph.
