The Los Angeles Business Council (LABC) has announced the winners of its 54th Architectural Awards, celebrating the city’s best in architectural innovation and community development. The prestigious Grand Prize was awarded to the Netflix Egyptian Theatre for its stunning restoration, while the Economic Community Impact Award went to projects modernizing sound stages across Los Angeles, and the Chairman’s Award honored the creation of new urban parks.

The Netflix Egyptian Theatre, originally opened in 1922, was restored through a partnership between Netflix and the American Cinematheque. The two-year project, led by Studio 440 Architecture and Gensler, revitalized the historic landmark, blending Hollywood's rich past with modern technology. The theater now boasts state-of-the-art projection and sound, alongside restored design elements, capturing its iconic role in cinema history.

In recognition of the entertainment industry’s vital role in L.A.'s economy, the Economic Community Impact Award was given to projects building and upgrading sound stages. These initiatives aim to expand local production space by 35%, creating jobs and boosting the region’s creative industry.

Three urban parks, including Wishing Tree Park, the Wilmington Waterfront Promenade, and George Wolfberg Park, received the Chairman’s Award for transforming vacant land into community assets. These projects demonstrate the power of architecture to enhance public spaces and promote sustainability.
