Brief weather warm-up expected in parts of Northern California Saturday; Temps to hover into 80s

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Areas of the Northern Sacramento Valley will experience a brief warm-up today, with temperatures expected to climb into the upper 80s this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Sacramento. While these warmer temperatures are expected locally, other parts of the region will see conditions similar to those on Friday. Seasonal temperatures are forecasted to return by tomorrow and persist into early next week.

Despite the warm spell, a Red Flag Warning remains in effect until 5 PM today (Oct. 19) for parts of the region due to gusty winds and very dry conditions. The strongest winds are forecast for this morning, gradually weakening as the day progresses.

Residents are urged to practice fire safety and stay vigilant, as the combination of dry conditions and high winds increases the potential for wildfire starts. The NWS advises everyone to have an emergency evacuation plan ready in case a fire begins near their area.
