U.S. Midwest to see unusually warm temperatures of 20-30 degrees above average, then rain showers

A variety of weather conditions are expected across the U.S. as a new week begins. On Monday, showers and thunderstorms will move across the Central and Southern Plains, lasting into late Monday night. Unusually warm temperatures, 20 to 30 degrees above average, are forecasted for the Northern Plains, Upper/Middle Mississippi Valley, and Upper Great Lakes due to an upper-level ridge.

In the South, onshore flow from the Gulf of Mexico will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to southern Texas through Monday evening, while similar conditions are expected in Florida, where scattered storms will continue through Tuesday.

In the Pacific Northwest, a front moving inland will bring rain through Tuesday, with snow developing over the highest elevations of the Cascades by Monday. Rain will spread into the Northern Rockies and Northern High Plains, with thunderstorms hitting the Upper Midwest Monday night. By Tuesday, the Northern Plains and Upper Mississippi Valley will experience rain as the atmosphere stabilizes.
