A cold front is currently sweeping through Western Washington, bringing heavy rain and the possibility of isolated thunderstorms throughout the day. The National Weather Service reports that after the front passes, unstable conditions will persist, resulting in scattered showers and breezy winds. Snow levels are expected to drop significantly, reaching around 4,000 feet, particularly affecting the North Cascades, including the Mt. Baker ski area. Higher elevation mountain passes may experience several inches of snow overnight into Monday.

As the low-pressure system near Haida Gwaii moves southeast towards Washington, the region can expect a continuation of active weather patterns into Monday. The heaviest rainfall will occur this morning, followed by a convective mode with a chance of thunderstorms primarily along the coastal waters and Pacific Coast. Lightning is the main concern, with some small hail and heavy downpours possible in developing storms.

While breezy conditions will remain throughout the day, they are expected to stay below advisory levels. A brief lull in precipitation is forecast for late Monday and Tuesday before another system approaches mid-week, bringing additional rain, strong winds, and mountain snow. Despite the wet weather, temperatures are anticipated to remain steady, with highs in the mid-50s and lows in the 40s.
