Cold Front Brings Snow, Gusty Winds, Colder, Rainy Temperatures to Utah

A significant weather shift is on the way for Utah, as a strong cold front moves across the region Monday into early Tuesday, bringing much colder temperatures, mountain snow, and gusty winds. This system will impact the Wasatch Back and Uinta County, Wyoming, with snow showers lingering into Wednesday.

Warm temperatures will quickly drop, as an upper-level low near British Columbia shifts the weather pattern. Rain showers are expected across central and southern Utah tonight, becoming more widespread by Monday morning. Gusty southwest winds of up to 50 mph are forecasted for Cedar City, Milford, and nearby areas on Monday, prompting a wind advisory. Residents are advised to secure lightweight items and Halloween decorations.

As the cold front moves across Utah, moderate to heavy precipitation will bring rain to valleys and snow to higher elevations. The Wasatch Back and Uinta County are expected to see snow, impacting mountain routes, especially during Tuesday’s morning commute. While valley areas along the Wasatch Front and Cache Valley may experience mixed rain and snow, accumulations are expected to be minor.

By Tuesday evening, precipitation will transition to scattered showers, and additional snow showers are likely across northern Utah on Wednesday.
