Strong Winds, and Heavy Snow Expected Across Colorado; First Hard Freeze of Season Looms

PUEBLO, CO – A dramatic shift in Colorado’s weather is on the horizon, with high winds, fire risks, and snowfall expected in various areas through midweek. The National Weather Service in Pueblo warns that temperatures will soar Monday, bringing hot, windy conditions to much of the region. This surge in heat, combined with dry conditions, has prompted a Red Flag warning for areas along the I-25 corridor and south of US 50, where fire weather concerns are high. Temperatures are forecast to peak in the upper 70s to mid-80s in many areas, with valleys reaching the 60s.

Monday night into Tuesday, moderate to heavy snowfall is forecast along the Continental Divide, particularly in the San Juan Mountains, where a Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through Tuesday afternoon. The Pikes Peak region may see light snow early Wednesday morning, and by Thursday, the first hard freeze of the season (70-90% likelihood) is expected on the plains.
