I first discovered this wonderful recipe from the Recipe Smooth Facebook group, a community brimming with culinary inspiration. Today, I’m thrilled to share this hearty and flavorful recipe with you, thanks to that amazing group!

Teriyaki beef is rooted in Japanese cuisine but has been widely adopted and adapted across the globe, especially in the U.S. Slow-cooking adds an American twist, allowing the flavors to deepen over hours, resulting in melt-in-your-mouth beef with every bite. Serve this dish over warm rice or noodles, and it’s sure to become a regular in your dinner rotation.

    Ingredients:

    • 2 pounds beef chuck roast, cut into 2-inch cubes
    • 1 cup teriyaki sauce
    • 1/2 cup beef broth
    • 1/4 cup soy sauce
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 3 garlic cloves, minced
    • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
    • 1 large onion, sliced
    • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
    • 1 cup carrots, sliced
    • 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional, for thickening)
    • 2 tablespoons water (for cornstarch slurry, optional)
    • Cooked rice or noodles, for serving
    • Sesame seeds and chopped green onions, for garnish

    Directions:

    1. Begin by combining the teriyaki sauce, beef broth, soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, and ginger in a slow cooker. Give everything a good stir to blend the flavors.
    2. Add in the beef cubes, onion, red bell pepper, and carrots, mixing until all ingredients are coated with the sauce mixture.
    3. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 8 hours. The slow cooker works its magic, transforming the beef into a tender, fall-apart texture, infused with the sweet and savory notes of teriyaki.
    4. If you prefer a thicker sauce, whisk together the cornstarch and water in a small bowl to create a slurry. Stir this into the slow cooker in the last 30 minutes of cooking, allowing it to thicken.
    5. Serve hot over a bowl of cooked rice or noodles, topped with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for that extra burst of flavor and color.

This dish pairs wonderfully with a side of steamed broccoli or a fresh green salad to keep things light and balanced. You can also easily customize this recipe to make it a bit sweeter or spicier by adjusting the teriyaki sauce or adding a dash of red pepper flakes.
