Golden Valley Pride set for June 8

    2024-05-30

Golden Valley Pride is back for the sixth annual celebration from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 8 at Brookview Park, 200 Brookview Parkway N., Golden Valley.

This family-friendly festival will include two entertainment stages along with a beer, wine, and cider garden featuring craft beer from Utepils Brewing. Activities include a bouncy house, an increased number of food trucks and more than 100 community groups and exhibitors.

Although the event has support from the city staff and the City Council, the Golden Valley Pride Festival is organized by a volunteer planning committee of residents from Golden Valley and neighboring communities who solicit financial support from multiple community businesses and individuals. Volunteers are needed for these community events. Interested community members can register on the Golden Valley Pride Festival website.

The Golden Valley Pride Festival began in 2016 and was the first suburban Pride festival in Minnesota. This family-friendly festival attracts thousands of attendees from all over the Twin Cities each year.

More gay couples, married or unmarried, reside in Golden Valley than any other city in Minnesota, according to census data from the Williams Institute at the University of California, Los Angeles. In the 2010 census, 22 out of every 1,000 Golden Valley households, or 2.2 percent, self-identified as gay.
