The Armstrong football and golfing communities came together on July 12 for the 2024 Armstrong Falcon Pride Golf Tournament, at Brookview Golf Club in Golden Valley. Sponsored by the Armstrong Falcon Touchdown Club and the Armstrong Golf Booster Club, the 18-hole scramble began at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start amid mild weather in the mid-70s, though the heat turned up as midday approached.

All proceeds raised at the event went toward the Armstrong football and golf teams.

The silent auctions included a range of Armstrong-branded golf gear and wear, a cribbage board, rounds of golf at Brookview, tackle boxes and gear, a Minnesota Wild jersey, and a baseball bat signed by Kennedy-alum-turned two-time World Series champion and Minnesota Twins icon Kent Hrbek.

The tournament had almost 100 participants, ranging from student-athletes to coaches, parents and other community members. Jack Negen and John Knutson, head coaches of the Armstrong football and boys golf teams respectively, were among the competitors. Adult participants paid $115 for a spot, while students 18 years old or younger paid $65. A long putt contest was also held for additional honors. Those looking to help without playing could also sponsor a hole during the tournament for $200.

The event went well with 96 participating golfers, with a general target of 100 ahead of the event. According to event organizers, the silent auction brought in about $3100, with rounds of golf and two TaylorMade Wedges as notably popular items. The goal was to raise between $7000 and $8000 dollars, with the projected total set to be near the $7000 range this year.
