WATCH: Is this the world’s strangest pre-shot routine?

You have to make your game your own and sometimes this means straying from conventional wisdom.

Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and to play your own way.

This golfer takes his time and goes to great lengths to line the ball up in an unusual swing ritual.

At least he has had a good look at it.

    How to play better

Making the transition to a lighter club is one of the simplest methods to increase distance and control off the tee if you’re a recreational golfer who swings under 90 mph.

Similar to how lowering the weight of a sports car enhances handling and peak speed, a lighter driver has the ability to swing faster with the same input.

But bear in mind that a lighter driver also contains a lighter clubhead and grip.

It’s not only about the shaft.

The club maintains greater balance when the total weight is decreased. Utilising robust and lightweight materials gives you a clear edge and may maximise the performance of the tee.

Our eyes are made to focus level and forward. It’s this annoying aspect that makes aiming so challenging. Standing in your advertisement posture and looking at a distant goal tilts your eyes, giving the impression that you are pointing too far to the left. The phenomenon known as the “Parallax Effect” can lead to frustrating compensations, whether or not you are aware of it.

In order to counter this, GOLF Top 100 Teacher Eric Alpenfels and his research partner, Dr. Bob Christina, conducted a study which revealed that when golfers use an intermediate target, which is a spot that is directly in line with their intended destination and approximately two feet in front of the ball, they hit the ball farther and straighter.
