Couple celebrates 65th wedding anniversary
ANNA — Roland and Helen Kellar Sr., of Anna, are celebrating 65 years of marriage on Thursday, Aug. 29. The couple were married on a hot day on Aug. 29, 1959, at 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Covington. The wedding ceremony was performed by the Reverend George Stadler, and was followed with a reception in the church basement, where Roland, Helen and their guests enjoyed cake and punch. The bridesmaids wore pink and turquoise which were the colors selected for this beautiful occasion. Marilyn (Roeth) Ryan served as Helen’s Maid of Honor and the duty of Best Man was performed by John Scarbrough. The bridesmaids included Joyce (Booher) Neth and Shirley (Durand) Heffner. Kathleen (Kellar) Lawson was the Junior Bridesmaid, while Debbie (Roeth) Brown served as the Flower Girl. Helen’s youngest brother David Roeth served as Ring Bearer. Ushers included Richard, Harold, Jack, and Fred Roeth, while the Acolyte was Gary Roeth. After the wedding, the couple left for Leonardwood, Missouri where Roland continued basic training in the Army.
