July was a quiet month on the Richter Scale for Georgia, with the state registering only one earthquake after experiencing six quakes each month in May and June. Georgia's only measureable earthquake in July was recorded on July 25 at 1:57 am centered approximately six miles northeast of Eton, GA, in Murray County. According to data from the US Geological Survey (USGS), the quake registered a magnitude of 2.4 at a depth of approximately six miles below the surface.
