Mankato collect their 25th win at home
Wednesday’s Northwoods League slate featured two solo matchups; The #1 Mankato Habaneros and the #2 Madison Night Mares, The #3 La Crosse Steam and the #4 Minot Honeybees. The Mankato Habaneros shut out the Madison NightMares 4-0. Paige Zender (Iowa State University) went 1-for-2 hitting her tenth home run with a solo shot in the fourth. Jessa Snippes (University of Minnesota) went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBI. Indigo Fish (Winona State University) went 1-for-2 scoring once with a double and one RBI. Serena Timmer (Drake University) went 1-for-2 with a double. Jayme Scheck (Drake University) earned the win throwing seven scoreless innings allowing five hits and one walk.
Waseca Legion downs Marshall to open sub-state tournament
The Waseca Senior Legion baseball team began postseason play Wednesday afternoon in New Ulm when they faced off against Marshall, who served as the home team in the game. A strong pitching performance from Sabastian Teague and aggressive baserunning performance led Waseca to earn a 6-2 victory to advance in the tournament. GLENCOE — The Brownton Bruins won a marathon 10 inning game over the neighboring Glencoe Brewers on Thursday, July 18. A lot was riding on this game as both team came into this game tied in the CRVL standings with an 11-9 league record. The winner would move into sixth place in the standings with a game remaining and would own the important tie breaker.
