Virginia Department of Health employee embezzles more than $4M in fraud scheme
A former employee who funneled millions of dollars from the Virginia Department of Health into a fake business account pled guilty Thursday to the scheme. Adam Lamar Harrell, 41, of Midlothian, faced charges including mail fraud, federal program theft and tax evasion. In total, Harrell received $4,337,395 in funds obtained illegally.

Newman and Casey Earn Second Team All-Virginia
Lynchburg, VA – A pair of Lynchburg Women's Soccer upperclassmen earned All-State second team as announced by the Virginia Sports Information Directors. Senior, Victoria Newman collected second team All-State this year. Newman was also second team All-ODAC and scored five assists and two goals in 2023.
