Reports of man with realistic-looking refile causes panic in Goodman Park

MCDONALD COUNTY, Mo. (KOAM) - This afternoon, near Goodman City Hall, a young man was seen in the park area wielding what appeared to be a rifle. Witnesses reported that he pointed the weapon at others and seemed to be shooting at them, also appearing to hold people at gunpoint.

Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) officers and McDonald County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) deputies quickly responded to the scene. After detaining those involved and conducting a thorough investigation, authorities discovered that the man with the rifle was related to the other individuals present. Furthermore, the rifle, although highly realistic in appearance, was not real. The red tip, which typically distinguishes toy guns from real ones, had been removed.

In light of recent events and the heightened fear of mass shootings, this incident caused significant alarm in the community. “The absolute terror that mass shooters can put into our communities makes me realize that there was zero humor in this young man's actions,” a local official stated.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident. Authorities emphasized the seriousness of such actions and the potential dangers of brandishing realistic-looking weapons in public.
