The 2024-25 school year starts in less than two weeks, and WCS is still looking to fill some vacant positions. The district is hiring special education teachers, special education teacher assistants, secondary math teachers, secondary science teachers, School Age Child Care (SACC) workers, food service employees, substitute teachers and bus drivers.
Woman dies after being hit by 'multiple vehicles' on I-65 North in south Louisville
LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A woman died Friday morning after being hit by multiple vehicles on Interstate 65 North at Outer Loop. Louisville Metro Police officers responded around 11:40 a.m. to find a woman lying in the road beneath the Outer Loop overpass. Spokesperson Aaron Ellis said she was hit by multiple vehicles.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - The girlfriend of a McGavock High School student who was shot and killed Friday is pleading for justice as police search for the suspects. Kylee Harter said her 17-year-old boyfriend, Caleb Womack, was killed at his home in Old Hickory. Police said the shooting happened around 12:30 a.m. on Bryan Street.

AAA: TN gas prices hold steady
Tennessee gas prices held steady over last week and the state average remains at $3.11 — the same as one week ago, according to AAA. Kitchen Cops find roaches, rodents and no hot water around the Valley
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) - The weekly Kitchen Cops inspections are in, and all across north Alabama, inspectors seem to be running into very similar problems. The South End Market on Gault Avenue had numerous serious violations, dragging it’s score down to an 80. Inspectors noted roaches in the kitchen and prep area and rodent feces along the baseboard of the floor. There was also a pan blocking a hand washing sink, a cutting board blocking the 3 compartment sink and roaches in both sinks as well. On top of that, there was no hot water in the kitchen, making it impossible for the staff to wash or sanitize dishes.
Nashville school board again denies five new charter school applications
The Metro Nashville Public Schools Board voted to deny all five revised charter school applications presented to it Tuesday night. All five schools — Encompass Community School, Nashville School of Excellence, LEAD Cameron Elementary, LEAD Southeast Elementary and Nurses Middle College — were initially denied by the board in April. Teen dies in shooting at Davidson County duplex
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - A 17-year-old was shot and killed Friday at a duplex in Old Hickory, according to the Metro Nashville Police department. Officers responded to the shooting just after 12:30 a.m. on Bryan Street. Officers at the scene said multiple shots hit the duplex the 17-year-old and another person were in.
