Fravel: Please bar witnesses as trial gawkers
WINONA, Minn. – The attorney for Adam Fravel wants people who are scheduled to testify in the murder trial against him be kept out of courtroom ahead of their time to take the stand. The request was filed by criminal defense attorney Zachary Bauer. Judge Nancy Buyendrop will consider the motion at a pre-trial conference in September. Among witnesses whom the prosecution plans to call are family and friends of Fravel’s live-in companion Maddi Kingsbury, who was killed in March 2023.
60 Main: Rooftop bar was not feasible
Developers behind 60 Main, the downtown hotel-apartment building under construction, responded to public reactions wishing the project included a rooftop bar confirming it won’t be included. Earlier this month, the Winona Planning Commission approved a site plan for the hotel-apartment building despite some concerns from neighbors about a planned fenced parking lot and its impact on traffic flow in the area.

Lewiston-Altura wins grants for solar panels, expects savings
The Lewiston-Altura School District (L-A) is moving ahead with installing solar panels at its two schools after receiving grants for this project. A few district leaders said the solar panels will allow the district to save on its energy costs. Based on the projected savings, the panels would pay for themselves over several years.
