Free summer meal programs for Goodyear and Litchfield kids announced

Across the West Valley, food insecurity is one of the most pressing challenges parents face during their school-aged children’s summer break.

Thousands of children throughout the West Valley and the state receive nutrition through school food programs. According to the nonprofit Feeding America, 963,130 people are facing hunger—and of them, 293,950 are children, which is 1 in 5 children within the state.

Two Litchfield Elementary School District schools will provide meals during break, at the following sites and times:

Rancho Santa Fe Elementary School, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. June 3 – 19. Rancho Santa Fe Elementary School is at 2150 N. Rancho Santa Fe Tr, Avondale.

Dreaming Summit Elementary School, Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8:45 a.m., 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. June 3 – 19. Dreaming Summit Elementary School is at 13335 W. Missouri Ave, Litchfield Park.

One Goodyear-area private school will assist.

St. John Vianney Catholic School, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., 12 p.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 3 – 27. St. John Vianney Catholic School is at 539 E. La Posada Blvd. in Goodyear.

Two Liberty Elementary School District schools will assist.

Blue Horizons Elementary, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 3 – July 18. Blue Horizons Elementary School is at 200070 W. Blue Horizons Parkway in Buckeye.

Rainbow Valley Elementary School, Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 3 – July 11. Rainbow Valley Elementary School is located at 19716 W. Narramore in Buckeye.

All programs are for ages 18 and under.
