Goodyear affected by global Microsoft outages

Early Friday morning, a routine update issued by cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike affected customers running Microsoft computing services. The glitch has impacted flight schedules, bank systems, media accessibility and digital services across the world.

The City of Goodyear experienced impacts from the update CrowdStrike through 12 hours of police and fire access to write electronic reports and in-house operations related to work order management issues that are ongoing.

Goodyear’s Director Digital Communications, Tammy Vo said that no data was compromised in the outage.

IT representative Brenda Hoah from Litchfield Elementary School District reports system blackouts across all of their schools after 9 a.m. and the schools and district office have no internet access to begin addressing the problem. LESD is made up of 16 public schools and is in the middle of enrollment season for the upcoming school year.

The elementary district’s high school counterpart, Auga Fria High School District has offices closed on Fridays and was not available to comment.
