    Open elected positions in Goodyear and Litchfield Park

    Voters in Goodyear and Litchfield Park, and across the state, are preparing to fill several elected positions that will play roles in local governance and public services in the coming years.

    City council members, county officials, and other state-level roles make everyday systems run. Below is a list of the jobs that candidates are applying for.

    City Council Members:

    In Goodyear and Litchfield Park, city council members are elected to four-year terms. They are responsible for passing citywide laws and ordinances, addressing community concerns, and over-seeing projects. Council members guide local policy and the operations of municipal services.

    Looking beyond local: Maricopa County has several key positions up for election:

    The County Assessor is elected for a four-year term and identifies, maps, and assigns value to properties for tax purposes.

    The County Treasurer, also serving a four-year term, manages the disbursement of county funds, oversees tax collection and handles investments.

    The County Recorder is responsible for maintaining public records, managing voter registration and early voting. This role is charged with determining the accessibility of public records and the operations of following elections.

    The county school superintendent handles administration, school records management, teacher and administrator appointments and collaboration with various educational entities.

    The County Attorney, elected for a four-year term, represents the county in legal matters and pro-vides legal counsel to county officers and school districts.

    The County Sheriff, also serving a four-year term, enforces the law in unincorporated areas, man-ages the county jail, oversees search and rescue operations and works to coordinate law en-forcement efforts.

    Members of the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors are elected for four-year terms. The board provides direction to the County Administrator and oversees several county departments setting the county tax rate, approving the budget, and managing county services. Members of the board also handle zoning issues, election management and can enact ordinances and regulations.

    State and Federal Representatives:

    The legislative rolls to be filled at the Arizona House of Representatives and state Senate are lo-cally elected officials pass bills on public policy, set spending levels, and vote on issues that mat-ter in the communities they represent. Each official serves a two-year term.

    At the federal level, Arizona elects officials in the U.S. Senators and Representatives, who are involved in passing legislation, confirming presidential nominations, and other national duties.

    Voting for candidates to fill these positions offers opportunities for residents to influence both local and broader governance structures. Registered voters are participating in the election process until polls close for the primary election July 30 at 7 p.m.
