NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - The North Platte Municipal Band performed a 4th of July Extravaganza show at Cody Park. The show was free to attend, and the group performed many patriotic songs such as “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” “This Land Is Your Land,” and other catchy songs that many love. Giltner girl wins National American Miss Nebraska pageant
GILTNER, Neb. (KSNB) - The Olympic trials aren’t the only place you will see central Nebraska represented. Makeena Huhman will be representing Nebraska in the National American Miss pageant after being crowned Miss Nebraska Junior Pre-Teen at its pageant in Omaha. The 9-year-old says preparing for a pageant is a process; you have to pick outfits, do your hair, and maybe some nail polish and sometimes the process can be boring or frustrating, but it’s pretty easy work for Huhman.
South Dakota’s top prospect commits to Nebraska
The top prospect in the state of South Dakota has committed to the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Shawn Hammerbeck is a 6-foot-6, 260-pound offensive lineman for Winner High School in Winner, SD. Hammerbeck selected the Husker over Kansas State, Minnesota, and Texas Tech. Reports have Nebraska looking at the offensive lineman as a tackle, although he has been identified as a possible defensive lineman. Nebraska first offered the recruit in the spring and hosted him on an official visit in April. He would then return in June on an official visit before committing to the Cornhuskers on July 3rd.
