Picks for Week 6 high school football games in San Angelo, Concho Valley and West Texas

Week 5 brought another exciting round of high school football games in the West Texas, Concho Valley and San Angelo areas. It was a welcome sign for many fans in the area. However, several upsets and close games damaged our pick percentage.

The Standard-Times correctly predicted 20 of 29 games in Week 5 , which comes out to 69% — an almost 20% drop from the past two weeks of picks.

We weren’t the only football outlet to struggle this week, though, as Dave Campbell’s Texas Football also went 20-29 in Week 5.

In this series, we will compare our picks to DCTF’s computer-generated selections for games in the San Angelo, Concho Valley and West Texas areas. Then, at the end of the season, we will compare our pick percentage head-to-head with DCTF and see who was more accurate.

After five weeks, the Standard-Times and DCTF are tied at 73% picking the same games.

There are considerably fewer football games this week with many open weeks for local teams ahead of district.
