Walker is the HSEC Pet of the Week! Playful and loveable
Walker is a too cute almost seven-month-old male Weimaraner/Lab looking mix, about 35-40 lbs. He was found as a stray pup and brought to us. Walker was a very timid boy at first but he is thriving in a most awesome foster home where he has found his confidence and is proving to be a most fun, playful and loveable pup indeed. Walker would be a wonderful addition to a loving family and is now crate trained and great with other dogs.
HSEC Shelter is back in business after Canine Influenza issue resolved
It’s good to be back! Our shelter has spent the last month dealing with contagious Canine Influenza in our dogs. It has been well over two weeks since the completion of medications AND since we have seen any respiratory illness symptoms. In consulting with Veterinarians, we feel safe for our dogs to now be adopted out into the community.

The Local Lemon held their official Grand Opening at their new store front on Saturday in Prattville. Their store is located at 702A Commerce Court in Prattville. They offer the freshest, most delicious variety of lemonades in town including sugar-free options as well. Their big day consisted of serving refreshing lemonade drinks, hosting local vendors in store, a food truck, and raffle giveaways from area businesses.
Opelika police searching for breaking and entering suspect
OPELIKA, Ala. (WTVM) - The Opelika Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a vehicle break-in suspect. According to police, the suspect was shown on security footage wearing a Kansa City Chiefs hat, t-shirt, and shorts. They also said he appears to have facial hair and several tattoos on his forearm.

Tie and Doll collects thousands of pounds of food for hungry school children in Montgomery
The Tie and Doll Stuff the Truck food drive was back in full swing this Saturday. Stuff the Truck volunteers loaded a U-Haul truck with donations as people dropped them off at the Sturbridge Winn-Dixie. They filled it with essential food items for MPS students, including non-perishable foods like granola bars, oatmeal, and mac and cheese. Those items will be put into the backpacks of students in need who may not get enough to eat at home.
