The 1965 Windsor Locks Little League World Series Championship Team
(August 24, 2024) — To baseball fans across the world, the end of August means it’s time to watch the Little League World Series championship tournament in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the birthplace of Little League baseball. During the summer of 1965, 6,350 teams from across the world began a baseball journey. Playing in a single elimination format, fourteen youngsters representing the small blue-collar town of Windsor Locks, Connecticut, defeated thirteen of those teams to become the 1965 Little League World Champions. I was part of that team, and it was the thrill of a lifetime!

The Real McCoy Rum Showcased in West Hartford
Brescome Barton hosted a Caribbean Rum Dinner at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar in West Hartford featuring The Real McCoy Rum on July 12. Teams from Brescome Barton and The Real McCoy Rum were on-site to educate guests on The Real McCoy Rum line during the five-course dinner prepared by Chef Headley Wilson paired with infused tastes of The Real McCoy Rum and cocktails by Stephanie Cohen, Brand Ambassador, The Real McCoy Rum. The award-winning suite of The Real McCoy Rum, distributed in Connecticut by Brescome Barton, is small-batch and artisan-crafted 100% unadulterated Barbados rum. Its 3, 5 and 12 Year aged premium rums are named after Bill McCoy, the pioneer rumrunner of the Prohibition era. Stonington resident Bailey Pryor, a six-time Emmy award-winning documentary producer, was inspired to start The Real McCoy Rum while producing a film about McCoy for PBS.
Bastille Day Celebration Showcases French Brands
Brescome Barton, in collaboration with DORO Restaurant Group, hosted a Bastille Day celebration and farm dinner at Sub-Edge Farm in Farmington on July 14. Guests enjoyed tastes of French wine, beer and spirits, with spritz bars featuring Lillet and Grey Goose Essences, a cocktail bar with selections from Rémy Cointreau and Belle de Brillet, and wines including Château Pech-Latt Corbieres, Cave de Lugny Unoaked Chardonnay, Lucien Albrecht Cremant d’Alsace Brut and Whispering Angel The Beach Rosé. The DORO Restaurant Group team created fresh French-themed cuisine using produce from Sub-Edge Farm to pair with beverage choices, which guests enjoyed in tents set amid the farm’s grounds. The farm grows 10 acres of sustainable and organically farmed vegetables, fruits, flowers, and culinary herbs and humanely raises heritage breed pigs, pasture-raised broilers, laying hens and 100% grass-fed cows. It also takes part in a 100-share Community Supported Agriculture program.
