GOSHEN TWP, Ohio (WKBN) – A Mahoning County Community Day will have some new features this year.

The Goshen Township Community Day begins at 10 a.m. Saturday with a blood drive. Donors get a Browns t-shirt and can win tickets to a preseason game.

Then the first car and antique tractor cruise and the annual police versus fire softball game will be held at Goshen Ruritan Park.

The Community Day also includes a big celebration with free food at the park.

Police Chief John Calko says the event is a great way to interact with the community.

“It’s just talking to people and getting to know people… we get to see you guys, get to learn people, things about you guys…I don’t want to be known as that police department that we’re just out riding tickets. That’s not what we’re here for. We want to be in the community and that’s what we’re here for,” Calko said.

The blood drive is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Community Day starts at 2 p.m. at Goshen Ruritan Park.
