Early Addition: Wear black if you're single

It’s Monday morning in New York City, where Mayor Eric Adams is refusing to implement a set of laws meant to expand access to key rental assistance subsidies, putting some people at risk of homelessness.

Here’s what else is happening:

• The city is rolling out its plan to make scaffolding less ugly by requiring developers to cover it in one of eight preapproved designs , or submit their own ideas for artwork.
• A head of broccoli, a recliner chair and an ankle monitor are some of the objects that wash up on the shore of Long Beach. See some of the other strange finds.
• The average rent for a one-bedroom apartment in New York City in June was $2,438.
• Lunge Run Club started in May with about 30 participants who showed up for a workout and to hopefully find a date. During its last meetup, the group had more than 1,000 walkers and runners who wore color-coded clothing to mark their relationship status, making it one of the hottest places to find love in the city right now.
