WVSSAC Eliminating Sectional Play From High School Baseball Playoffs
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - The WVSSAC Board of Directors approved changes to the high school baseball playoff layout, which will eliminate sectional play from the postseason. Instead of sectional play, all teams will now compete in a regional bracket which will be divided into two double elimination brackets. And the regional bracket seeds will be voted on by the coaches.

West Virginia American Water Awards Grants for Fire Protection
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WVDN) — West Virginia American Water recently announced that 29 agencies within its service areas will receive grant money for fire protection gear, equipment, and training. Among the recipients are two departments in Summers County: the Summers County Volunteer Fire Department and the Jumping Branch-Nimitz Volunteer Fire Department. The Jumping Branch-Nimitz department will use its grant to purchase two ratcheting fire hydrant wrenches, totaling $740.40. The Summers County Volunteer Fire Department will allocate its $842.70 grant towards acquiring AED (automated external defibrillator) equipment. The Summers County Volunteer Fire Department expressed their gratitude on Facebook, thanking American Water Company for the support. They also indicated that they will provide updates on how the grant funds are utilized in the future. The grants are part of West Virginia American Water’s ongoing efforts to support local fire departments and enhance emergency response capabilities across its service areas.
