The cross country season is winding down for the Graham Steers and Lady Blues as the team ran one of its final races of the year Wednesday, Oct. 2 in Stephenville.

Graham’s teams competed in the annual “Thrill of the Hill” Invitational, where the Steers and Lady Blues saw mixed results in one of the largest fields of competition of the season.

The Lady Blues varsity squad had the best team performance of Graham’s teams as they finished fifth overall out of a field of 23 qualified teams. The girls were led by Sonya Clarke and Rebekah Gilbertson, who each finished in the top-15 of all runners in the race that featured 162 participants.

For the Steers, they finished 12th as a team out of 18 qualifying schools, led by Nolan Wankowicz who finished 28th overall in the race out of 157 runners. All Graham’s boys ran in the varsity race, so no JV scores were recorded.

Finally, the JV Lady Blues took eighth place out of 13 teams. One of the highlights for that team was Mariana Gaspar, who took 10th place overall in the field of 142 runners.

The next race Graham competes in will be the most important of the year to that date. The Steers and Lady Blues will head to Brock next Wednesday, Oct. 9 for the district meet. Graham will hope to qualify for regionals as a team, but individual runners have a chance to make the regional race with strong top finishes.

Full individual and team results are listed below for varsity and JV. Individual scores include the runner’s placement, name and final time. Team scores are listed in order of placement with the lower score meaning a better team performance, and team scores will include teams ahead of Graham and just a few of them that finished after.
