Graham man dies in wreck Brian Smith Wed, 03/27/2024 - 8:50 am A Graham man was killed early Friday morning west of Bryson after a two-vehicle collision. According to Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Juan Gutierrez, the wreck occurred at 5:14 a.m. March 22 and involved a 2024 Kenworth truck tractor towing a 2020 Hyundai semitrailer driven by Paige Conway Amado, 68, of Dallas, and a 2002 Ford Ranger pickup driven by Tommy Bates, 80, of Graham. Preliminary investigation revealed the Kenworth was in the westbound lane of U.S. Highway 380 approximately 0.9 miles west of Bryson. The vehicle was found to be backing unsafely with the trailer crossing into the eastbound lanes. The pickup driven by Bates was traveling east on U.S. 380 and struck the trailer. Bates was pronounced dead at the scene due to the injuries sustained in the crash by Justice of the Peace Jessica Bailey. Amado was arrested by DPS troopers just before noon Friday and booked in the Jack County Jail for criminally negligent homicide. Bond was set at $20,000. Because the accident involved a semi truck, a commercial DPS trooper had to be called onto the scene to do a full vehicle inspection. No further information was available.
