DuPont Boxcar Fundraiser – DuPont Historical Society
The DuPont Historical Society is currently raising money to restore the last remaining boxcar from the DuPont Plant that was located in town. It will be restored by Historic Railway Restoration Inc. to look as close to its original condition as possible. DHS has received numerous donations and grants from organizations including the City of DuPont LTAC grant, Nisqually Indian Tribe Charity Fund, Squaxin Island Tribe, NRHS Railway Heritage Grant, Puyallup Tribe Charity Trust, Olympia Model RR Clinic members, the Over the Hill Gang in memory of former Museum Coordinator Jerry Williams, as well as several individual donors both inside the community and out.

Union Gap Police ask public to 'be vigilant' after surplus patrol car stolen
UNION GAP, Wash. -- The Union Gap Police Department is looking for a stolen decommissioned patrol SUV. According to UGPD, the silver 2017 Ford Explorer was stolen between the night of July 13 and the early hours of July 14 from the 2600 block of Main Street in Union Gap after being bought by a local business at an auction. The SUV is no longer a UGPD patrol car and has no police markings other than fully functioning emergency equipment and push bars.

Leavenworth moves forward with purchase of car wash property
LEAVENWORTH – The City of Leavenworth will be purchasing the former Cascade Quick Lube and Car Wash property for $1.9 million. The city has been considering acquiring the property, located at 1451 U.S. Highway 2, for municipal purposes since at least 2018. However, it chose not to pursue it further based on a known contamination site across the highway, formerly known as Glacier Park. The Glacier Park site was impacted by petroleum contamination and has received cleanup efforts since the 1990s.
