Pierce Transit Celebrates $14.8 Million FTA Grant Award
On July 11, Pierce Transit hosted the Federal Transit Administration and elected officials to celebrate receiving a $14.8 million Buses & Bus Facilities grant award. The funding will be used to purchase new battery electric buses and install new charging equipment. This project will improve efficiency and help facilitate expansion of Pierce Transit’s zero-emission fleet.

Seattle deputy police chief accused of domestic violence will not be charged with a crime
PIERCE COUNTY, Wash. — The Pierce County Prosecutor's Office on Monday said they will not charge Seattle police Deputy Chief Eric Barden with a crime. The criminal case against Barden stems from a 2023 complaint accusing him of domestic violence. The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department investigated the case and referred it for a charging decision in early July.

Aberdeen man killed in vehicle vs pedestrian collision.

Lakewood City Council considers updates to code around public camping restrictions
Last year the Lakewood City Council adopted two ordinances to address concerns around camping on public property.
