Summer Gardening Workshops Taking Place at Greystone
The Beverly Hills Community Services Department is hosting a new series of gardening workshops this summer at Greystone Demonstration Garden. The classes are scheduled to kick off with “How to Make Your Own Herb and Spice Mix” on July 14, followed by “Pickle Party” to learn the art of pickling on July 28, “How to Make Your Own Herb and Spice Mix” on Aug. 4 and “How to Grow a Pollination Garden” on Aug. 25. The cost for the series of four workshops is $45 or individual classes are $15 ($36 or $12, respectively, for Beverly Hills residents). Participants should register early to secure a spot at beverlyhills.org/bhrec.
Dogtown's Skateboarding Heritage Rolls into Spotlight at Local Museum
SANTA MONICA - project two years in the making has brought the spirit of skateboarding’s origins back to the sport’s birthplace. On June 30, the California Heritage Museum launched its exhibit “Dogtown and the Legendary Z-Boys,” paying homage to the Westside’s founding fathers of modern skateboarding. Running through October 27, what museum Executive Director Tobi Smith called a “long summer” show, the exhibit came about via a partnership with original Z-Boy Nathan Pratt.
