Two in Custody Following Vehicle Pursuit & Barricaded Subject
TWO IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING VEHICLE PURSUIT & BARRICADED SUBJECT. GRAND COUNTY, CO- On Monday, July 15, 2024, at approximately 7:22 a.m. the Grand County Communications Center received a report of a stolen black F-150 truck that had just occurred in the area of Lake Granby. Initial reports were that this vehicle was traveling south-bound on Highway 34 approaching the Granby area. A Granby Police Officer attempted to make a traffic stop on the vehicle by using his lights and siren in the Town of Granby jurisdiction, however the vehicle accelerated and failed to stop. Grand County Sheriff’s Office Deputies took over the pursuit as it continued east-bound on Highway 40. The pursuit reached speeds that were up to approximately 100 miles-per-hour before deputies were able to perform a Tactical Vehicle Intervention technique on Highway 40 near Mile Post 237 (Berthoud Pass).

Grand County Sheriff’s Deputy is recognized as law enforcement champion
On May 8, Grand County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Tyler Mathis was recognized as a law enforcement champion for his dedication to impaired driving enforcement. He received this honor at the Mothers Against Drunk Driving and Colorado Department of Transportation Law Enforcement Champion Awards for the Western Slope and Mountain regions.
American pop artist offers free workshop in Granby for ages 5 and over
The Grand County Library District will be offering an artist workshop with American pop artist Michael Albert at the Granby Library on Friday, July 12, from 2-4 p.m. The “Modern Pop Art Experience” is for all ages and the art enrichment program has been offered for almost two decades by Albert in 12 states.

The Grand County GOP Central Committee voted in David Buckley as its new chairman, replacing Mark Line, at its meeting that took place July 1. The press release from the group writes that “Buckley is excited to continue the positive growth and outreach the GOP has realized under Line.”
Search and rescue responds to man with injured ankle on a trail in Winter Park
On Monday, July 1, Grand County Search and Rescue responded to help a person with an injured ankle on the St. Louis Lake Trail in Winter Park. The 36-year-old man from the Denver area had been camping at St Louis Lake and injured his ankle while hiking. He was able to contact his wife with a satellite messenger device, who then notified Grand County Dispatch at about 10 a.m.
