Former mayor accuses resident of buying seat on planning commission

FERRYSBURG — During Monday night’s City Council meeting, former mayor Rebecca Hopp accused Councilmember William Montgomery of accepting money from a Planning Commission member.

“My concern tonight is for full transparency of the councilmembers’ actions and their failure to abide by state laws,” said Hopp. “Montgomery did not disclose to the public that Regina Sjoberg had loaned him $10,000 toward his legal fees for his unsuccessful suit against the City of Ferrysburg.”
