All horses matter to G.V.H.R., but when they go to BLM auctions at a Sand Wash or Piceance Creek. It's estimated more than two thousand 'wild horses' free-range across the western half of Colorado managed by the Bureau of Land Management. Organizations like Grand Valley Horse Rescue try to save the horses that BLM rounds up, brands, and adopts out only to have too many winds up in slaughterhouses.
