H5N1 strikes another large layer farm in Colorado, dairy herd in Minnesota
Both of the layer farms are in Weld County in the northeastern corner of the state, where several outbreaks have been reported in dairy cattle. In other developments, Minnesota's Board of Animal Health reported another affected dairy herd, which is located in Stearns County in the central part of the state.

MINNEAPOLIS — After a few days of respite, spotty, pop-up storms return for the weekend.The greatest chance for storms is across northern Minnesota on Saturday, but on Sunday the storms will likely impact southern Minnesota. The storms are expected to come in the afternoon and evening before dissipating at night. Chances for severe weather remain low.Before the storms Saturday, the humidity returns, with dew points back in the 60s. High temperatures will stay in the low 80s over the weekend.The pattern of afternoon pop-up storms will last through Tuesday.

Walz Promises Southern MN Family “Full Investigation” Into Daughter’s Death
(Pine Island, MN) — Governor Walz is promising a southern Minnesota family a full investigation into their daughter’s death. Walz visited Pine Island yesterday to talk about state resources available to new farmers. He was asked about the charges brought against Minnesota State Trooper Shane Roper following a May crash that led to the death of Owatonna’s Olivia Flores. Walz called the crash “tragic” and said the investigation is needed to determine if policy changes are needed. Roper is facing multiple charges, including manslaughter and criminal vehicular homicide.
One person burned in Virginia structure fire Friday
VIRGINIA, Minn. (Northern News Now) - According to Friends of the Northland FireWire, one person sustained several burns in a structure fire Friday night north of Virginia. According to a social media post from FireWire, firefighters from Cook, Kinney-Great Scott, and Pike-Sandy-Britt battled the structure fire in the 7800 block of Lake 14 Road.
