On Saturday, the Grand Rapids Marching Band finished their 2024 competition season at Howard Wood Field in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

In preliminary completion, the band took 3rd place in Class AAA among 8 bands in their class. The band also took home the Outstanding Percussion award in class AAA.

Of the 28 bands competing, the top 10 highest scoring bands regardless of class, were selected to move on to the evening’s Finals performance. Grand Rapids’ preliminary competition score of 74 earned them a ticket to the finals for the first time since 2013 at a Festival of Bands competition!

After performing in finals, the band placed 10th, with a score of 71.8. The finals competition was fiercely competitive, with just .2 points separating 8th-10th place.

The marching band performs their show “Timeless Grooves” for the final time this year at the GRHS football halftime show at Noble Hall Field on October 16.
