Adam Johnson Memorial Night to be held at UMD Men's Hockey game on Nov. 23

The Adam Johnson Memorial Fund will host a special Memorial Night on Nov. 23 to honor the life and legacy of former UMD forward, Adam Johnson. Johnson, a beloved member of the hockey community, tragically passed away on October 28, 2023, following an on-ice incident during a game in England.

The event aims to celebrate Adam’s life and raise funds for the Adam Johnson Memorial Fund, which plans to support hockey camp scholarships and academic scholarship awarded to a Hibbing High School senior with plans to attend UMD. The evening will feature several special activities and opportunities for fans to contribute:

• Adam Johnson Memorial T-Shirt Giveaway: The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a commemorative Adam Johnson Memorial T-shirt.

• Jersey Off My Back Auction: UMD players will wear special warm-up jerseys, which will be auctioned off during the game. Winning bidders will receive the jerseys directly from the players on the ice after the game. (Watch for auction here)

• Online Silent Auction: Fans can bid on pro jerseys of players who played at UMD with Adam.

• Hibbing Youth Hockey – Little Chippers: Adam’s hometown youth hockey association will be part of the evening’s events, showcasing the future generation of players.

Davey Johnson, Adam’s father, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support, saying, “The love we’ve received from the hockey community this past year has been overwhelming. Adam loved this game, and it means so much to us that his legacy will live on through events like this and the Memorial Fund in his name.”

Sue Johnson, Adam’s mother, added, “Our faith and the prayers of so many have given us strength over the past year. Knowing that Adam touched so many lives is a blessing, and we are grateful for the love and support we've felt from people near and far.”

The night promises to be a fitting tribute to Adam Johnson's passion for the game and his lasting impact on the hockey community.

The mission of the fund is to honor the life of Adam by continuing to support the passion and interests that Adam valued the most and to keep his legacy alive.
