United Way of 1000 Lakes has launched its largest Dining United campaign yet, offering restaurant-goers a simple way to support their community by dining out. Now in its 12th year, the campaign features 19 local restaurants, hotels, and breweries in the greater

Grand Rapids area, all donating a portion of their proceeds to support United Way’s programs. The campaign runs through Give to the Max Day (November 21, 2024).

“Dining United is a powerful way to support local small businesses, while helping the broader community through United Way of 1000 Lakes,” stated Bill Martinetto, Rapids Brewing Co general manager. “One of our core values at RBC is 'Community.' We take pride in partnering with United Way for Dining United and appreciate their tireless efforts to make a positive impact in our community.”

Dining United is a collaboration with area businesses to uplift local families by raising funds for nonprofit programs focused on education, financial stability, and building an equitable community. Since its start in 2012, the campaign has raised over $48,500, driving positive change for the region.

Participating since it began in 2012, Timberlake Restaurant offers Wine Wednesdays, donating $2 for every wine pour, while Smoke on the Water returns, contributing $1 from each fall lunch entrée.

“We live in such a fabulous community,” said Tia Starks, owner of Smoke on the Water. “Dining United is a great way to discover local businesses while giving back to our neighbors.”

This year’s campaign highlights both new dishes and fan favorites, such as Rapids Brewing Company’s Hungarian Goulash and Pickled Loon Saloon’s Prime Rib Nachos and Mahi Mahi Piccata.

Long-standing participants include Dutchroom & Mad Dog’s Pizza, Forest Lake Restaurant, and Sammy’s Pizza, with new faces like La Tequila, Ravenstone Abbey, and Timberwolf Inn & Restaurant joining the effort.
