GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Rosalynn Bliss has some plans in place for after her time as Grand Rapids mayor. Gov. Gretchen Whitmer has appointed her to the Michigan Economic Development Corporation Executive Committee.

In her role as the mayor of Grand Rapids , Bliss has spent several years working alongside the MEDC on several projects, including Acrisure and Perrigo’s move to downtown Grand Rapids.

The executive committee provides policy direction and guidance for the MEDC, approves the organization’s annual budget and appoints the CEO who oversees the day-to-day operations.

Bliss is filling the term originally assigned to Beverly Walker-Griffea, the former president of Mott Community College. She has resigned from both positions after being named the director of MiLEAP, the Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement and Potential.

Bliss’ abbreviated term with the MEDC will expire on April 5, 2027.

Bliss has served two terms as mayor of Grand Rapids, winning elections in 2015 and 2019. Term limits prevent her from seeking another term.
