    Trump, JD Vance scheduled to rally in Michigan after Republican National Convention

    Just one week after Donald Trump was grazed with a bullet during an assassination attempt at a Butler, Pennsylvania rally, he is set to retake the big stage in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this time with his official running mate, JD Vance .

    The event will take place at the Van Andel Arena on Saturday, July 20 at 5 p.m. and kicks off the start of the Trump-Vance presidential ticket.

    After shots were fired by the suspected shooter, Thomas Mathew Crooks , according to the FBI, politicians and pundits called on the Secret Service for answers, including Michigan's District 5 Rep. Tim Walberg, who called the "security lapses" during Trump's last rally "unacceptable" on X, formerly known as Twitter.

    Before the Saturday rally, the former president will address delegates and guests at the convention on Thursday evening in Milwaukee.

    Trump and Joe Biden are currently neck-and-neck in the polls in the swing state of Michigan, which voted blue in 2020 and red in 2016. According to FiveThirtyEight , an average of recent polls shows Trump ahead by a fraction of a percentage point.
