    Bike Time, bald eagles and the Blue Bridge: What to do in West Michigan this weekend

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — A slight break from the heat could not have come at a better time. Now you can fully enjoy all of the awesome events happening in West Michigan.

    Here is a look at what you can do the weekend of July 18:

    Upheaval

    The largest rock festival in Michigan is back in Grand Rapids this Friday and Saturday as Upheaval returns.

    This year’s lineup includes performances by Godsmack, Bad Omens and Of Mice & Men. Shows will be held at Belknap Park.

    Breathe Deep on the Blue Bridge

    The second annual Breathe Deep on the Blue Bridge is taking place This Saturday.

    The event is designed to not only get people up and moving but also raise awareness about lung health. There will be a yoga class, music, refreshments and more.

    Downtown Sidewalk Sales

    Businesses along Monroe Center and Ottawa Avenue in downtown Grand Rapids are participating in the first-ever Summer Sidewalk Sale.

    The event will run Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and give shoppers the chance to score on some deals this weekend.

    Storm Team 8 Forecast

    Food Trucks and Frisbee

    Start the weekend a little early by heading to the Mary Free Bed YMCA on Burton Street this Thursday night.

    The Y is hosting Food Trucks and Frisbee where the whole family can get in on some fun ultimate frisbee or disc gold action and then relax with some good food from local vendors.

    Whitecaps take on Dragons

    The West Michigan Whitecaps are getting ready for a three-game homestand against the Dayton Dragons and it will be a “super” time.

    All three games will have a superhero theme to them with fans having the chance to meet some of their favorite heroes at the ballpark.

    Muskegon Bike Time

    For an 18th year, Muskegon Bike Time is back and ready to take over the downtown area for the weekend.

    The motorcycle festivities are already underway and will continue through Sunday. There will live music throughout Bike Time but there will also be an arm wrestling competition, dad bod contest and it all ends with the Patriot Ride.

    Harbor Humane Society Woofstock

    Harbor Humane is hosting its annual Ales for Tails event but this year’s will be an extra special one.

    Thursday’s event will be the shelter’s 10th anniversary celebration that they have now titled “Woofstock.” Attendees will be treated to drinks and live music while supporting the humane society’s animals.

    LAUP Fiesta in Holland

    Now through Saturday night, you can be a part of the largest fiesta in Holland.

    The Latin American United for Progress (LAUP) Fiesta will welcome some 20,000 people to the four-day festival. There will be live music, authentic cuisine, dancing and more.

    Fishing for the Eagles

    An event over at the W.K. Kellogg Bird Sanctuary this Saturday will allow you to not only learn how to fish, but also feed some eagles.

    You will first be taught the proper way to cast your line and reel in some fish from Gull Lake. The caught fish will then be brought to the sanctuary to be fed to the resident eagles.

    Jurassic Quest

    Head on down to the Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo this weekend as Jurassic Quest comes to town.

    This interactive experience places you right in the time of dinosaurs and allows you to live among them. Things get started on Friday and go through Sunday.
