Vance asks Harris what she’s done for the country, ‘other than collect a check?’

It appears the attack dog has arrived as Vice Presidential nominee Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) went after Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday at his first rally with former President Donald Trump.

During the rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Vance addressed some of the criticism sent his way by his Democratic counterpart, Vice President Harris.

“Now, I’ve had such an incredible, a blessed week. What a cool thing it was to be asked by President Trump to serve as his running mate and get out there on the campaign trail. But there’s some bad news, actually,” Vance said. “The vice president – Kamala Harris – she doesn’t like me.”

Vance, a former US Marine, went on to slam Harris, asking what she has done for her country.

“Kamala Harris said something to the effect that I have no loyalty to this country,” he asked. “Well, I don’t know Kamala. I did serve in the United States Marine Corps and built a business. What the hell have you done other than collect a check?”

Harris took the first shot at Vance days after he was announced as Trump’s VP pick, rebuking the young senator for not sharing the “full story” about who he is.

“It’s a compelling story,” Harris said about Vance’s personal story during a rally in North Carolina. “And, it was not the full story. Frankly, what is very telling is what he did not talk about on that stage. He did not talk about Project 2025, their 900-page blueprint for a second Trump term. He did not talk about it because their plans are extreme and they are divisive.”

Trump also discussed Harris during his speech at the rally, saying that she was “crazy” and “nuts” as reports come out that President Joe Biden is continuing to receive pressure to bow out of the race and let Harris or someone else run as the Democratic nominee.

The former president quipped at one point on Saturday that he would like to run against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) should Biden drop out.

The rally in Michigan comes days after the Republican National Convention and a week after the attempted assassination of Trump, which left the country in shock.

During his appearance at the convention last week and his rally, Trump wore a bandage to cover the gunshot wound, though on Saturday, he opted for a smaller, flesh-tone bandage.

Trump addressed the RNC, saying it was a “big, beautiful, four-day love fest.” He also said that the assassination attempt has been covered by the media “fairly,” offering rare praise for news outlets.
